About us
Joy Mennonite Church is a small congregation located in the historic Lincoln Terrace neighborhood in Northeast Oklahoma City. We have 15 members, but sometimes have more in attendance on Sundays. We also have many others who come to activities at the church building throughout the week.
Our church is made up of folks from a variety of religious backgrounds, including those who grew up in Anabaptist traditions (Amish and Mennonite) as well as those from other Christian traditions (Pentecostal, Baptist, Presbyterian and Church of Christ). We believe that our diverse backgrounds and our unity in this diversity is a strength. We seek to model the inclusive and radical love of Jesus in our congregation.
Our congregation has a unique mission. We are one of the only urban Mennonite churches in Oklahoma, so we seek to be ambasadors of the Anabaptist tradition in this place and seek to work for peace and reconciliation through the kind of radical love that Jesus modeled for us in his life here on earth. We also believe in the importance of individual conscience as expressed in the context of loving community, and see this emphasis as being central to our work here.
For more information on our congregation please feel free to contact us or better yet come and visit with us on Sunday mornings.
